Pisiquid Aquatic Club, founded by Fred and Karen Lynch in 1975, islocated on the shores of beautiful Lake Pisiquid in Windsor, Nova Scotia. PAC is located off Water Street, in downtown Windsor (behind Tim Horton's).

The first club facility consisted of an old abandoned warehouse. The club's purpose for operation was to provide both recreational and competitive canoeing / kayaking opportunities to a small, yet dedicated, volunteer group of people who worked very hard to provide family-oriented activities. Today the emphasis is still on the family, and the club enjoys a much-expanded membership as well as a hard working and supportive group of volunteers, many of whom are parents and siblings of Pisiquid athletes.

Members of the Pisiquid Aquatic Club were shocked and saddened by the sudden death in 1981 of founder Fred Lynch, but the executive and members continued to provide the necessary leadership to ensure that the club would continue to operate and to grow.

For many years Pisiquid was the only club outside of the Halifax / Dartmouth region to offer a competitive canoe / kayak program. Despite the challenges inherent in the geographic limitations, the club has managed to maintain it's unique identity and produce athletes who compete at both provincial, national, and junior world events, including past Canada Games. The club hosted a Peewee Regatta for the Atlantic Division for several years and several of the club parents became active as officials at this and other regattas. As well, beginning in 1996, during Windsor's Sam Slick Days, Pisiquid sponsors the annual Fred Lynch Memorial War Canoe Challenge.

For several years when the membership was small, paddlers were able to register with the Maskwa Aquatic Club for the purpose of competition in the Atlantic Division and at Nationals, to allow for their participation in war canoe and other crew events. We appreciated the willingness of Maskwa and the Atlantic Division of the Canadian Canoe Association to help with the club's development in this way.

The summer of 1996 was an eventful one for Pisiquid, as the club was able to relocate from their converted warehouse to a newly erected, modern facility next door. The club still maintains a recreational program as well as the year-round competitive racing program. Pisiquid also offers instructional clinics in recreational canoeing / kayaking to schools and recreational groups.

Today Pisiquid Canoe Club's mission is still to provide a rewarding and exciting canoeing / kayaking experience for all ages. With a focus on children between the ages of 7-18, the canoe club encourages the growth of its members through participation, competition and fun. The goal of the canoe club is to offer a high quality program to all members at an affordable cost.
