Pisiquid Canoe Club is hiring for 2010 Summer Coaches.

Qualifications:
  • previous experience coaching in the sport of canoe/kayak
  • effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • current first aid and CPR certification, competent swimmer
  • Pleasure Craft Operators' Card
  • preference will be given to those with at least Level I NCCP certification both as a community coach, and in the Technical Certification with the Canadian Canoe Association, with the intention of completing the requirements to Level II
Expectations:
  • to be responsible for the daily operation, safety, security and cleanliness of the canoe club and the equipment from May through September 2009
  • to create and deliver a fun and safe program for all club members
  • to actively promote the canoe club in the local schools starting in early May with the intent of recruiting potential members
  • as a coaching team member to work cooperatively with all the coaching staff
  • to mentor volunteer coaches
  • to assist in the execution of special events and/or fundraisers
  • to attend coaching/regatta draw meeting for the Atlantic Division of CKC
  • to respect the club's policies regarding fair play and equity
  • potential to lead pre and post-season training sessions
  • other duties as required by the Board of the Pisiquid Canoe Club
Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience

Head Coach
Qualifications
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Pleasure Craft Operators Cord
  • Minimum National Coaching Certification Level 1 (NCCP1)
  • Previous Coaching and/of Supervisory Experience
Position Description
  • To be responsible for the daily operator, safety, security and cleanliness of the canoe club and the equipment from June through August 2009
  • To create and deliver a fun and safe program for all club members
  • To be a positive role model understanding the impact of the position they are assuming
  • To liaise with the Padding Chairperson and Board Members of the Pisiquid Canoe Club, as well as with parents of participants
  • To ensure compliance with all club rules regarding safety for both participants and equipment
  • To develop a weekly training plan indication the intent and progression for all participants in the program
  • To mentor volunteer coaching
  • To assist in the execution of special events and/or fundraisers
  • To attend regatta when Pisiquid Canoe Club athletes are racing
  • To attend coaching/regatta draw meeting for the Atlantic Division of CKC
  • To respect the club’s policies regarding fair play and equity
  • Potential to lead pre and post season training sessions
  • Other duties as required by the Board of the Pisiquid Canoe Club
